A huge thank you to Mick Long, neighbour and friend of the school who recently spoke with 3rdto 6th classes about his two expeditions to Mount Everest. Mick spoke enthusiastically about his feats and accompanied his presentation with a slide show containing spectacular photos from the point of view of a climber on Everest, Mick also brought many essential climbing items that the children could handle. His many great tales and exciting challenges that he faced kept his audience captivated. Mick also had the honour of meeting Sir Edmund Hillary, one of the first climbers to reach the summit of Everest ( see photo below)Many thanks Mick and his wife Miriam, (assistant for the visit!) for their time and effort!
